What is a Virtual Domain Hosting?

Virtual domain hosting means having your own domain name (http://www.your-name.com) without having to install expensive server hardware and software. With virtual domain hosting, you utilize our server's storage space, however you are still professionally represented via your own personal Internet web address domain name (www.your-name.com) and by your own personal e-mail address domain name (you@your-name.com).

You should check InterNIC's WHOIS database to make sure that your desired domain name is available.


Can I access my domain address with or without the "www"?

Yes, you will be able to access the domain address with or without the "www" in front of the domain name. Example: [http://www.your-name.com] or [http://your-name.com] is acceptable, whichever you prefer.


Do you offer dial-up Internet access?

No, you will need local Internet access in order to access your web site and retrieve email from your account.


What is Global Internet Business Solutions DNS information?

The following below is Global Internet Business Solutions DNS information. You can use this when registering a new domain name or modifying an existing domain name.

When I register a domain name who will have ownership of it?

When you register a domain name with Global Internet Business Solutions you will have full ownership of your domain name. This means that you can move your domain name somewhere else or modify it however you want. You have full control over your domain name. If the customer desires domain name registration, registration of a new domain name is $35 for a term of 1 year payable to Network Solutions. Each year after will result in an additional $35.00 charge billed directly to the customer by Network Solutions or other registration company. Domain Registration fees are not paid to Global Internet Business Solutions and are non-refundable.


Can I transfer an existing domain name to Global Internet Business Solutions for hosting?

Yes, just be sure to specify that you are requesting a transfer and not a new domain on your order. You should keep the service with your current provider while waiting for InterNIC to complete the transfer process. We will provide you with a temporary IP address so you can mirror the site on our server. All email and web pages will still be accessed from your current site. When InterNIC announces the completion of the transfer there is a 72 hour propagation period where visitors could go to either site. At the end of the 72 hours you should contact your previous host to have them delete the old domain from their records and update their DNS record. If you use this same provider for your Internet access you will not be able to access your domain site until they update their DNS records. When we file a domain name modification request one of the current listed contacts must authorize the transfer. InterNIC will send an email that you must authorize in order to complete the domain name transfer. If the contact email on your domain has changed from the time you originally registered it, you will need to fax an authorization to complete the process using a tracking number we will provide upon request.

If you registered your domain name with a registrar other than Network Solutions the process is a little bit different. You will need to contact the registrar and have them change the DNS name servers over to Global Internet Business Solutions DNS (listed below). In doing so that will make your domain name active on your Global Internet Business Solutions account.

Will there be any downtime in transferring my domain name to Global Internet Business Solutions?

If you are transferring an existing web site to Global Internet Business Solutions there should be no downtime of your existing web site in making the transfer. You will have the opportunity to upload your files to your new Global Internet Business Solutions account before the transfer is completed so everything is ready to go once the transfer is completed. How long does it take before my domain name is active?

Once your domain name has been registered (or transferred, if applicable), it usually takes about 48-72 hours before it is active. All Internet providers must update their records (DNS tables) to reflect the new site's location.


Who is the InterNIC?

The InterNIC is an independent organization responsible for holding the registration and routing of Internet domain names. Without these people it would be virtually impossible to maintain sanity on the Internet.


How do I transfer files to my web site?

Files must be transferred to the web server via File Transport Protocol (FTP), Telnet (E-Commerce accounts only) or your account's web-based Control Panel. If you need FTP, telnet, mail, or other Internet software, visit ZDNet Software Library. ZDNet Software Library is a source for the latest Internet applications with ratings and reviews to help you decide which application is best suited for your needs. An FTP tutorial is also available for beginner users who may not be familiar with FTP. We also provide a web-based Control Panel to make it even easier for you to upload your files.


Will I have unlimited access to update my pages?

You have unlimited access via FTP and Telnet (E-Commerce accounts only) 24-hours a day. As such, you can create and maintain your web pages on your own computer and upload files to your web site at your leisure.


Can I use my account for commercial purposes?

Yes, you can use your account for commercial purposes. The World Wide Web has become the most efficient and cost-effective means of making information available to the users of the Internet community and we encourage our customers to utilize such an enormous medium.


How long does it take to set up a new account?

New accounts are set up in 24-48 hours from the time we receive your order. Once an account is set up an activation notice will be sent to you via email including your account information. You can begin uploading files to your new web site immediately. Domain account users will be given an IP address to access their site via the web prior to the completion of either domain registration or domain modification. If you need to have access to the server sooner please note so on our order form. We will go the extra mile to meet you expectations.


How is billing handled?

We bill monthly to the credit card on record. With prior arrangements we will accept prepaid services in quarterly amounts by Company check, money order or cashiers check, sorry no personal checks accepted.


Can I upgrade my account if I need to?

Yes. You can upgrade your account at anytime. You will just pay the difference between your current account and your new account. There are no extra fees involved in upgrading. This can all be done by email to: upgrade@gibsolutions.com


Are 3rd level domains available (anyname.mydomain.com)?

Yes, We can give you a third level domain name such as yourname.gibsolutions.com or if you have an existing domain with us anyname.yourdomain.com. The packages are the same as the ones posted for normal domains, the advantage to these is InterNIC registration is not needed. This means no interNIC registration fees. If you already have your domain hosted with us and would like to setup a 3rd level domain for it (something.yourdomain.com) there is NO SETUP FEE when ordering the hosting account. Can you host domain names other than .com .net and .org?

Global Internet Business Solutions can host any domain name. However we only offer domain name registration and transferring of .com .net and .org domain names at this time. If you would like to use a domain name other then that you will be responsible for registering and or transferring the domain name yourself. Once your account is setup, we will provide you with the proper name server settings your domain name will need to point to.

 


Can I have additional domain names point to my current domain?

You can have additional domain names (Domain alias) point to your current domain name. For a one time $20.00 setup fee (no monthly fees) we can point a second domain name to your main domain name. This is a great way to expand the marketing of your site. E-mail sent to the additional domain name will also automatically forward to the main domain name. Contact our sales department.

 


How can I accept credit cards on my site?

In order to accept credit cards you must have Merchant Account. Global Internet Business Solutions has partnered with Cardservice International, a nationwide credit card processing company, to provide you with your own merchant account & online processing system. If you don't already have a merchant account please contact our sales department.
